Hitomi
Gilliam AIFD is a floral artist and an educator, who is committed to raising
the level of professionalism and creativity within the floral industry. She loves sharing her talent and progressive
ideas to help florists become more fashionable and trendy. She was the founder
of Trend Summit in 2011, whose mission is to empower floral industry to take
charge of setting its own floral trends.
Hitomi is
a member of American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) and is one of only
seven recipients of AIFD’s prestigious Design Influence Award. She is a regular
columnist for Flowers& magazine. “Creative Edge” presents to the readers three
options to approach the monthly featured design category. She is a distinguished educator and lecturer
world-wide, and has given presentations at many notable venues, art museums and
botanical gardens.
In 2006,
Hitomi was the recipient of the American Horticultural Society’s Frances
Poetker Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions as designer, author
and lecturer to the art and science of American horticulture. In 2008, she won ‘Gold’ and ‘Best of show’ by
invitation only international entry at Singapore Garden Festival. She has authored 6 books to date, with
another on its way. ‘A Fresh Look at
Judging’ will be available by summer 2012.
